Stella Belle Dawson, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 10, 2005. She was a resident at Tendercare Nursing Home in Sault Ste. Marie.
Stella was born July 26 1914 in Ludington, Mich. She was the daughter of Sherman and Pearl (Evens) Whitman.
Stella was a member of Fundamental Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family.
Surviving Stella is one daughter Sharon (Ron) Pennington of Sault Ste. Marie, one stepson Charles (Mary) McNeil and their families, Timothy, Matthew, and Cherie of Petoskey, and two step-daughters; Melva and Sandy McNeil of Flint. She is also survived by a grandson; Kevin and his wife Laurie of Saginaw, and a granddaughter; Tambra and her husband John of St. Paul, Minn., three great granddaughters Jamie and Bailey of St. Paul, Minn., Cassandra of Montrose, Mich., and one great-great-grandson Daniel of Montrose, Mich.
She was preceded by her husband of 20 years, Jack Dawson, a step-son; Melvin McNeil, a sister; Helen McNeil, and two brothers; Robert and Walter Whitman.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 14, at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Rader officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
