  General Notes:

Stephen served in the defense of the frontier in Captain Thomas Hunt's company. Colonel Frederick Weissenfel's Regiment, of the New York Militia. He served as a spy back of British Lines around New York City. The story is told of how Stephen was captured by the British and sentenced to be hung; the rope around his neck broke; they flogged him and sent him on his way.

Furnished information Washington C.H. Chapter. He emigrated from New York at a very early date and settled on Main Paint near Rockville. He built the first brick house on Main Paint.
