Sir Andrew KERR Knight of Cessford 1683
FamilySearch ID: GPYR-BZZ General Notes: Sir Andrew Kerr of Cessford was a Scottish borderer. He was the son of Sir Robert Kerr of Caverton, Roxburghshire, cupbearer and master of artillery to James IV, by his wife Christina, daughter of James Rutherford of Rutherford. He fought and survived the Battle of Flodden in 1513, and became a Warden of the Marches. Cessford was damaged by the English in 1519, and when the Earl of Surrey besieged the castle in 1523, he reckoned Cessford the third strongest castle in Scotland. Noted events in his life were: 1.
