Pearl Leach


Pearl Lillian Leach, 88, a lifetime resident of Pickford, entered eternal peace on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at the Mackinac Straits Long Term Facility in St. Ignace, Michigan.

She was born to this world on June 4, 1917 to the late Roy and Margaret (Hill) Smith in Pickford.

On September 4, 1937 Pearl joined hands in marriage to Vern Edward Leach sharing 68 years of love and devotion. Our Lord has blessed them with five children Verna, Larry, Elva Jean, Marcia and Roger Leach.

She was a member of the church family at Pickford United Methodist Church, Methodist Ladies Aid, Farm Bureau, and Pickford Senior Citizens. Pearl also belonged to the Pickford Quilters Club. Pearl enjoyed cooking, making quilts, flower and vegetable gardening, helping on the farm and most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pearl is survived by her beloved husband, Vern of Pickford; five children, Verna (Herman) Hill, Larry (Sandra) Leach of Midland, Mich., Elvajean (Charles) Seidel and Marcia (George) Rutter of Flint, Mich. and Roger (Nina) Leach of Pickford; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nettie Leach, Mildred Hanna, and Esther Waybrant of Pickford, Ruby (Lyle) Crawford of Sault Ste. Marie; and many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in everlasting life by, sisters, Mary (George) Sims, Hazel (Chet) Droulard and Ervadean (Roger) Schmidtke; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bell and brother-in-laws, Ivan (Effie) Leach, Elwin (Minda) Leach and Howard Leach.

The Leach Family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the Ross Funeral Home in Pickford. The Leach family will also receive friends on Saturday October 8 from 10-11 a.m. at the Pickford United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, at Pickford United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with Reverend Paul Gruenberg and Dave Wallis officiating.

Memorials may be made to Pickford United Methodist Church.
