Mrs. Wm. Ruehle Pleasantly Entertained Friends last Saturday (March 21, 1896).
Mrs. Wm. Ruehle entertained a number of lady friends at her home on Peck Street last Saturday afternoon from 3 until 9 o'clock. It was her birthday anniversary, and in addition to that it was also chosen as the day of christening of her youngest grand child, William Edmund Glenn Martyn, who was four months old on the same day.

During the depression, Glenn got a lead on a job in the Detroit area and took his family south from the Soo.

On the night that Glenn died in Texas, his son, Bruce Martyn, was in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada having call the play-by-play of the Detroit Red Wings game earlier that evening. Bruce's wife, Donna, traveled with Bruce for this game in order to visit friends, Bruce and Audrey McGregor who lived in Edmonton. With both Donna and Bruce away from home, Bruce's sister Barbara called Bruce's son Scott in Ohio to let him know what happened and see if he knew the whereabouts of his parents.

Knowing that his father was traveling with the Red Wings, Scott called the radio station in Detroit, WJR, that carried the Red Wing games and asked for information on the hotel that the team stayed at in Edmonton. With that information, Scott called Bruce and gave him the news. This was also how Scott found out that Donna was traveling with Bruce on this trip.

Bruce and Donna left Edmonton the next day for Texas. That night was the first and only Detroit Red Wing game in a career spanning 31 seasons that Bruce did not broadcast. Frank Beckman, the Sports Director at WJR flew to that nights game and filled in for Bruce.

His occupation was listed as "wage worker in the tanning industry". The census also recorded that his father was born in Canada. This conflicts with Edmund J.
