John Maleport of 1200 Seymour St., died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday in War Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sept. 30, 1900, in Toledo, Ohio, and was retired employee of Soo Builders Supply Company. He was a corporal in the Home Guards during World War I and a member of Knights of Columbus, the Senior citizens Club, and the Sunshine Club of Soo, Ontario, and the royal Neighbors of America. He is survived by his wife, the former Bernice Payment; three sons, Kenneth of Brimley, Gerald of the Sault, and Francis of Thunder Bay, Ont; five daughters, Mrs. Olen (Mildred) Jones of Christopher, Ill., Mrs. Arthur (Shirley) Fabry of the Sault, Mrs. Audrey Mansfield of Kinross, Mrs. Hollis (Joanne) Williams of Odessa, Texas, and Mrs. Robert (Norma Jean) Young of Wauseau, O., 31 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sons preceded him. They were Melvin who died in World War II in 1945, and Richard Dennis who died in 1941. Also surviving are two brothers, Henry of the Sault and Peter of Sugar Island, and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Alice) Payment of the Sault; Mrs. William (Blanche) Cox of Sugar Island; and Mrs. Roseanne Larson of St. Petersburg, Fla. Friends may call at the Bailey-Newhouse Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. on Sunday with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St, Joseph's church at 9 a.m. on Monday with the Rev. Msgr. Oliver O'Callaghan officiating and burial will be in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be six grandsons.
