Owen McMahon


On Monday last occurred the death of an early and widely known pioneer of the county, Owen McMahon, aged 84 years, at his home in this city, where he had resided many years.
He had been in feeble health for several years, during which he has seldom been seen upon the streets. Mr. McMahon was a native of Ireland. In 1851 he was married to Miss Bridget Kearns, whose death preceded that of her husband by three years. They came to Waukesha in 1852. During his long residence here Mr. McMahon held many public offices. He was village clerk for a number of years before Waukesha became a city, deputy register of deeds, register of deeds, under sheriff, county clerk and deputy city clerk.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Joseph McMahon, Moilne, Ill.; Thomas McMahon, Mrs. Thomas Casey, Mrs. E. P. Abbot and Miss Elizabeth McMahon of this city. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Joseph's church, Rev. W. G. Miller officiating
