Queen Jane was the 3rd wife of King Henry VIII, born 1505. She was not well-educated, and could only read and write her name, but she learnt needlework and household-management. None of this mattered to Henry. She was regarded as meek, gentle, simple, and chaste, with her large family making her thought to be suitable to have many children. She became a lady-in-waiting to (then) Queen Catherine of Aragon, and then to (then) Queen Anne Boleyn, surely drawing the attention of the King, in passing. He was known for his proclivity for beautiful women, and his ever-watchful eye on all His subjects. She is said to have been "a woman of the utmost charm in both character and appearance." (Polydore Vergil, Italian-English Scholar); and "the fairest of all the King's wives." (John Russell, 1st Earl of Bedford).

King Henry first noticed her 3 mos. before Queen Anne's execution.

Within 24 hours of Anne Boleyn's execution on 19th May 1536, Jane was betrothed to Henry and they were married on 30th May 1536. She was never crowned Queen, due to the Bubonic Plague effecting England. Henry may have been reluctant to have her crowned before she had fulfilled her duty as a queen consort by bearing him a male heir.

Her well-publicised sympathy for the late-Queen-Catherine and her daughter Princess Mary showed her to be compassionate and made her a popular figure with the common people and most of the courtiers. She was even able to persuade Henry to allow Princess Mary (later Queen Mary I) and Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth I) back in his presence, and back in Court.

Her motto as a queen was: "Bound to obey and serve."

In 1537 she was pregnant, and King Henry VIII was delighted when she gave birth on 12 October to a son Edward (later King Edward VI). The boy was christened on 15 October, but Jane was weak after the birth, and died on 24 October. Henry believed her to be his only "true wife", and she was the only one buried with him in by his side, at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, England.

After her death, Henry wore black for the next three months. He became obese, and developed diabetes and gout, in his sorrows.

Noted events in her life were:

1. She was Roman Catholicism on an unknown date. 2362

2. Cause of Death: Died after Child Birth, on 24 October 1537,. 2362
