Biography
Robert may have been the son of John Cambrun. Both John Cambrun and Robert Cambrun witnessed a charter of King Alexander II dated at the Abbey of Scone on 11 July 1233 which was an excambion involving the lands in Longforgan in the Carse of Gowrie and fishing rights in the Thanage of Scone. John was the more senior and thus Robert was likely to be his son and heir apparent even though no further evidence is given in the charter.

That the Charter of Scone Abbey deals with lands in the parish of Longforgan it suggests that they were present because of the geographical proximity to their own lands. Thus they probably held the lands of Baledgarno and were the progenitors of the Cambrun of Baledgarno family.

Robert Cameron (Cambrun) received from King William the Lyon (1165-1214) a grant for the lands of Baledgarno in the Carse of Gowrie. Unfortunately this is undated and doubt has been expressed about this but it seems correct that it was to this Robert if around 1212.

It is assumed that Robert had a son and heir named after his father:

John Cambrun of Baledgarno, knight.

Robert married.
